Palm Beach Atlantic has hired Steve Alderman as general counsel and Stacie Bowie as CFO. Both will serve in the President’s Cabinet.
Alderman comes to PBA with more than 20 years of leadership experience in human resources and financial operations, as well as 13 years as general counsel, spanning both nonprofit higher education and industry. Most recently, he worked for South Texas College of Law Houston for more than 16 years. He was promoted four times, culminating in his serving as chief operating officer and general counsel. He was involved in many critical projects, including co-leading the law school’s response to COVID-19; assisting with the modernization of accounting and finance, human resources, and general operations; providing significant leadership in the development of an online Juris Doctor program; and serving as the “lawyer for the lawyers.”
Prior to joining the law school, Alderman was an associate professor at Houghton College, his alma mater, in New York. He earned his Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration from the University of Denver.
Bowie comes to PBA with 30 years of experience in financial and operational leadership in higher education and private industry. Most recently, she served as vice president for finance and administration at Lander University in South Carolina. She refinanced foundation debt for significant annual savings and improved cash flow; led emergency management when the campus closed due to COVID-19 and prepared campus for the return to campus; and maintained positive cash flow and operational income. Bowie also served as treasurer for the University’s foundation and manager for three LLCs.
Prior to Lander, Bowie served as Coastal Carolina University’s vice president for finance and administration and CFO for more than eight years and as a senior vice president with Stephens Inc., where she was a municipal financial advisor with a specialization in higher education. She served in controller roles for multiple S&P 500/600 companies both in a division and worldwide capacity.
She holds a Doctor of Business Administration degree from Rollins College and an MBA from Coastal Carolina University. She earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and accounting from the University of Maryland.
Bowie is married with two children and has an extensive record of community involvement.
