Retired Home Depot Exec’s Contribution Bolsters Center for Biblical Leadership

PBA News

Former Home Depot executive Jim Inglis made a gift to the University’s new Center for Biblical Leadership.

The December gift is the Center’s first major contribution since the founding grant from Board of Trustees Chairman Timothy S. Sotos, noted Dr. Sam Voorhies, the Center’s executive director. Fundraising efforts are under way as Voorhies builds the Center’s programming.

“We are honored that Mr. Inglis chose to support our mission of equipping ministry and marketplace leaders for biblical leadership,” Voorhies said.

At the heart of the Center’s mission is exploring concepts, opportunities and challenges of leading business and ministry organizations from a biblical world view.

Inglis, a retired Home Depot vice president, met Voorhies while working in Africa to bring clean water to villages where most of the population was wiped out by AIDS. Inglis spoke to a group of high-achieving PBA students in October about that experience, his other volunteer work and how to integrate faith in the workplace.

The Center for Biblical Leadership will host Dave Browne, the former CEO of LensCrafters, on Thursday.
