Dr. John P. Hayes, director of PBA’s Titus Center for Franchising Scholarships, recently organized the Franchise Educators’ Consortium to support educators who teach franchising.
The consortium’s members had an exhibit at the International Franchise Association convention in San Diego and presented an update on franchise education to the IFA Board of Directors. The consortium won the support of the IFA, Hayes said.
The consortium has formed the Intercollegiate Franchise Network, which provides online conferences for students of member universities. At the convention were Hayes, Dr. Ben Litalien from Georgetown University, Dr. Kathleen Gosser from the University of Louisville’s Yum! Center for Global Franchise Excellence and Ab Igram, from Babson College’s Tariq Farid Franchise Center. The University of Tennessee, which is organizing a franchise center, is also a member of the consortium.
“All of the educators who participated in the convention expo are grateful to IFA for giving us the opportunity to exhibit jointly and thereby save money,” Hayes said. “This was a good way to show the franchise community at large what’s happening for franchise education in the U.S.”
