Graduates Achieve Remarkable Success in NAPLEX and MPJE
West Palm Beach, Fla. – (February 13, 2024) Graduates from the Gregory School of Pharmacy (GSOP) at Palm Beach Atlantic University (PBA) have recorded outstanding results in the recent North American Pharmacist Licensure Examination (NAPLEX) and the Multistate Pharmacy Jurisprudence Examination (MPJE), marking another significant milestone for the institution and its students. Students eligible to take the NAPLEX and the MPJE have graduated or are about to graduate from an accredited pharmacy program. They must meet the education requirements for licensure as a pharmacist, which generally includes earning a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree.
GSOP students have achieved an impressive first-time pass rate of 84.3 percent for NAPLEX and 80.9 percent for MPJE. These results surpass the national average of 78.6 percent (NAPLEX) and 74.4 percent (MPJE). In 2023, 144 schools graduated students eligible to take the NAPLEX and 126 schools eligible to take the MPJE. These pass rates secure GSOP’s position as the second-best performing school in the state for both examinations.
This academic excellence from students who completed the pharmacy program at PBA reflects the results of initiatives which were implemented over the last year to improve outcomes. Critical programs such as end-of-APPE (Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience) rotation quizzes and the “Senior Summit,” a comprehensive two-week review series including a simulation NAPLEX exam and a law review, have been instrumental in preparing students for success. These targeted support measures and encouragement for students to take the exams immediately after completing their programs have significantly contributed to the improved pass rates and GSOP’s national and state rankings.
With 56 students graduating in the Class of 2023 and 51 in the Class of 2022, most of whom have taken the NAPLEX and MPJE exams, GSOP demonstrates its commitment to contributing highly qualified pharmacists to the healthcare sector. This achievement is particularly significant given the growing demand for healthcare professionals, especially pharmacists, who play a critical role in meeting the health care needs of communities.
