A little about Aziz Hashim:
Aziz Hashim is one of the world’s leading experts on franchising, with over three decades of experience owning and operating franchises around the globe, and previously serving as Chairman of the International Franchise Association from 2016-2017. He founded NRD Capital (NRD) in 2014 with the goal of leveraging his operational and financial experience to position high quality brands for responsible accelerated growth.
As Managing Partner, Mr. Hashim oversees all aspects of NRD’s vision and investment strategy. In addition to holding these leadership responsibilities, Mr. Hashim is actively involved in the firm’s current investments in Ruby Tuesday – where he served as interim Chief Executive Officer while the fund searched for a permanent solution, Fuzzy’s Taco Shop, Frisch’s Big Boy, Mike’s Kitchen and FundRx.
Prior to NRD Capital, in 1996 Mr. Hashim founded NRD Holdings, a franchise development and holding company. After starting with just a single quick-service location in downtown Atlanta, NRD Holdings soon grew into one of the largest restaurant franchisee companies in the United States. At NRD Holdings, Mr. Hashim worked with leading global franchise brands, including Popeye’s®, KFC®, Taco Bell® and Domino’s Pizza®. In 2014, as a testament to his success at NRD Holdings, Nation’s Restaurant News named Mr. Hashim one of the 50 most influential people in the restaurant industry. Mr. Hashim was also previously Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Impact Investments, an investment vehicle he launched to focus on business ventures in Africa.
Having witnessed firsthand the opportunities for success that entrepreneurship can provide, Mr. Hashim is deeply committed to passing along his unparalleled knowledge and experience to others, with the goal of creating wide-spread financial independence and advancing the franchise industry as a whole. He regularly speaks at major business and franchise conferences throughout the year, including the Global Restaurant Leadership Conference (GLRC), the International Franchise Association Conference (IFA) and the Multi-Unit Franchisee Conference (MUFC), and in 2014, he and his wife endowed a faculty position at the Cecil B.
