Biography

Professor Couch is an artist working primarily in ceramic sculpture and contemporary installation, exhibiting nationally and internationally in solo, juried, and invitational exhibitions. She has worked collaboratively with artists such as Fumihiro Kikuchi, Anthony Obr, David Shannon-Lier, and Gregory Sale, and with collectives creating work in the field of social practice. Her work in Phoenix, Arizona received critical acclaim; she has served on the advisory board of the Arizona State University Ceramics Research Center in addition to participating in the annual ASU Ceramics Research Center Studio Tour for six consecutive years. Before completing her MFA in ceramics at Arizona State University, she studied with Inchin Lee at Hong Ik University in Seoul, South Korea, and attended numerous educational and artist residencies at the Mesa Arts Center, Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, Alfred University, Chautauqua Institution, and the International Ceramics Studio in Kecskemet, Hungary.
