Biography

Beate Rodewald has been on the faculty of PBA since 1989. She works primarily on comparative and interdisciplinary subjects, with special interest in utopian studies, science fiction and fantasy. She regularly teaches classes on Literature and the Arts, Literary Theory, and seminars in the Honors Program’s Great Books curriculum. As member of the Modern Language Association of America and the Society for Utopian Studies, Dr. Rodewald has presented papers at national and international conferences; in addition to literary subjects, Dr. Rodewald has researched intentional communities and historical artists’ colonies.
