Biography

Aaron Bishop is a seasoned Physician Assistant with extensive experience in orthopedics, showcasing a robust career spanning over two decades. Since June 2016, Aaron has been a pivotal member of the team at Greater Rochester Orthopaedics in Rochester, NY, where his role demands significant autonomy and involves providing comprehensive care in a multi-specialty orthopedic surgery practice. Prior to this, Aaron dedicated nearly 14 years to Canandaigua Orthopaedics in Canandaigua, NY, where his responsibilities were vast and varied, including first assists in the operating room, managing emergency calls from the ER, conducting clinic consultations for both pre and postoperative patients as well as fracture care, and performing hospital rounds.

Aaron’s journey in the medical field began at North Medical Urgent Care in Liverpool, NY, where from May 1999 to June 2001, he delivered urgent care to a diverse patient base in a high-volume center, laying a sturdy foundation for his career in patient care. His formal education in orthopedics was further enhanced by a postgraduate Orthopedic Surgery internship at the Illinois Bone & Joint Institute, affiliated with Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, IL, from July 2001 to June 2002. This hands-on experience provided him with deep insights and advanced skills in orthopedic care.

Aaron’s academic credentials include a Physician Assistant certificate obtained from LeMoyne College in Syracuse, NY, where he studied from August 1996 to September 1998. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Athletic Training from Cedarville University in Cedarville, OH, received in June 1994, which laid the groundwork for his interest and subsequent career in orthopedics and sports medicine.

Aaron is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, having initially passed in 1998 and successfully recertified in 2004, 2011, and 2017. His skill set is comprehensive and includes upper and lower extremity casting, various types of injections, fracture reduction, and the interpretation of diagnostic imaging. Aaron is also commended for his excellent interpersonal skills, which, along with his clinical expertise, make him a valued preceptor for PA students and new hires, guiding them through the complexities of orthopedic care with ease and proficiency.

Throughout his academic and professional journey, Aaron has been recognized for his dedication and excellence, evidenced by his inclusion on the Dean’s List at both his undergraduate and postgraduate institutions and being a recipient of the New York State health scholarship.
