West Palm Beach, Fla., USA (June 27, 2024) — Upon receiving Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) accreditation in May 2023, the Marshall E. Rinker Sr. Business School (RSB) at Palm Beach Atlantic University (PBA) applied for a Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) chapter charter, and in April 2024, it was approved.
Founded in 1913, Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society is an international business honor society for AACSB-accredited schools, which are the top five percent of business school programs around the world. Members currently reside in all 50 states and more than 190 countries. Members can participate in their collegiate and local alumni chapters, attend additional events regionally, nationally and internationally, and receive educational and professional benefits.
“Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society is the premier business honor society in the world,” said Dr. Brian Strow, dean of the RSB. “Membership is offered to only the top business students in AACSB-accredited business schools. We proudly inducted our first Beta Gamma Sigma members from the Rinker School of Business this spring and look forward to adding to this number in future years.”
On April 3, 2024, PBA hosted an Installation and Recognition Ceremony where 19 new BGS members were recognized – one faculty member, five graduate students, and 13 undergraduate students. To be eligible to receive an invitation to join BGS, undergraduate students must be in the top ten percent of their class and in their second semester of sophomore year or further. Graduate students must be in the top 20 percent of their class and have completed at least half of their program.
“I am honored to have been named as Chapter Advisor for our new Beta Gamma Sigma chapter,” said Dr. Alexandra Cook, associate professor of accounting for the RSB. “Our business students exemplify academic excellence and Christian service. It was wonderful to recognize our top business students as they are truly among the best in the world and will continue to serve as important role models through their membership. We have exciting plans for our chapter, and I look forward to working with our student officers and chapter members to bring these to fruition.”
The RSB provides a highly respected, proven learning experience for students looking to make their mark on today’s global economy. The programs incorporate essential business concepts with the added dimension of a Christian worldview, which provides an elevated level of preparation and produces graduates who are sought after for their knowledge, skills and principled decision-making.
