Dr. E. Randolph Richards, provost and chief academic officer, announced the promotion of 16 faculty members.
Faculty members proceed into the commencement ceremony Monday, May 6, 2019 at the Palm Beach County Convention Center.Associate Professor Dr. Francisco Plaza was promoted to professor of politics. He holds bachelor’s and master of business administration degrees from Universidad Metropolitana (Venezuela) and a doctorate from The Catholic University of America. He is chair of the politics department and won the Charles & Hazel Corts Award for Outstanding Teaching in 2018.
Associate Professor Dr. Deborah Morgan was promoted to professor of nursing. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Mount Aloysius College, a Master of Science in nursing from University of Pittsburgh and a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Florida Atlantic University. She is the associate dean for the graduate nursing program. She joined PBA in 2013.
Associate Professor Dr. Dana A. Brown was promoted to professor of pharmacy practice. She holds a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Brown is associate dean for academics for the Lloyd L. Gregory School of Pharmacy and acting director of the Gregory Center for Medical Missions. She joined PBA in 2005.
Associate Professor Dr. Elias B. Chahine was promoted to professor of pharmacy practice. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Universite’ Saint-Joseph (Lebanon) and a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Lebanese American University. He joined PBA in 2007.
Associate Professor Dr. Angie McDonald was promoted to professor of psychology. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Abilene Christian University, a Master of Science degree from Texas A&M University and a doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin. She joined PBA in 2003. She is faculty adviser for Psi Chi, a national honor society in psychology.
Assistant Professor Dr. Cidya Grant was promoted to associate professor of chemistry. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of the West Indies and Master of Science and doctorate degrees from Florida Atlantic University. She joined PBA in 2012.
Assistant Professor Dr. Carl Miller was promoted to associate professor of English. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Wittenberg University, a master’s degree from The Ohio State University and a doctorate from the University of Florida. He joined PBA in 2013. He is a member of the University’s Prestigious National Scholarships Committee and serves as the faculty adviser for the Sigma Tau Delta English honor society chapter.
Assistant Professor Dr. Angela Witmer was promoted to associate professor of biology. She holds bachelor’s and Master of Science degrees from New Mexico State University and a doctorate from Texas A&M University. She joined PBA in 2014.
Assistant Professor Dr. David Eric Lowdermilk was promoted to associate professor of biblical and theological studies. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Southeastern University, a Master of Divinity from Assemblies of God Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Theology degree from the University of South Africa. He joined PBA in 2015. He is the coordinator of the ministry program at the Orlando Campus.
Assistant Professor Dr. Nathan Maxwell was promoted to associate professor of biblical and theological studies. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Hardin-Simmons University, a Master of Divinity degree from Logsdon Seminary and a doctorate from Baylor University. He joined PBA in 2009.
Assistant Professor Dr. Sandra Ojurongbe was promoted to associate professor of nursing. She holds bachelor’s, Master of Science and doctorate degrees in nursing from Florida Atlantic University. She joined PBA in 2012.
Assistant Professor Dr. Jane Wilson was promoted to associate professor of nursing. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Kutztown University, a Master of Science degree from Liberty University and a doctorate from Florida Atlantic University. She joined PBA in 2013.
Assistant Librarian Michelle Keba was promoted to associate librarian. She holds a bachelor’s degree from University of Florida and a Master of Science from the University of Texas at Austin. She joined PBA in 2015.
Instructor Barbara A. VanderWerf was promoted to assistant professor of business. She holds bachelor’s and master of business administration degrees from PBA. She came to work at PBA in 2006 as executive assistant to the provost. She began serving as an adjunct professor of business and management in 2014. She serves as director of undergraduate advising for the Marshall E. Rinker Sr. School of Business.
Instructor Danilda Martinez was promoted to assistant professor of digital media production. She holds a bachelor’s degree from PBA and a Master of Arts degree from Regent University and has completed additional studies at Fordham University. She joined PBA in 2016.
Affiliate Librarian Kellie Barbato was promoted to assistant librarian. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Mansfield University and a Master of Library Science degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo. She joined PBA in 2017.
