Young people with an interest in theatre can get a taste of the stage in several upcoming PBA Children’s Theatre productions, including “Disney’s Frozen JR.,” “Footloose” and Shakespeare’s “The Tempest.”
PBA Children’s Theatre offers several options for youngsters to explore the theatre arts. During Saturday musical theatre classes, children learn all the elements of theatre required to put on a show. The course culminates in a fully-produced show at PBA’s Fern Street Theatre.
Fall Session — “Disney’s Frozen, Jr.”
Grades 3-8

Spring Session — “Getting to Know Footloose”
Grades 7-12
Sessions: Saturdays, Jan. 11 to May 17
“I Will Shakespeare” is a Tuesday masterclass designed for home school students and taught by professor Kyle Schnack. The masterclass culminates with a Shakespearian production at the end of each semester.

PBA Children’s Theatre Touring Company gives tweens and teens an opportunity to perform at various community and private events. They spend the first semester learning and rehearsing individual and group show pieces in preparation for Christmas and second-semester performances.
PBA alumna Katie Fredrickson ’13 is the touring company’s teaching artist. She has worked as director, stage manager and actor for companies such as Actors’ Playhouse, Children’s Musical Theatre, StoryMakers and Palm Beach Opera.

Spring Into Creative Dramatics is a daily camp designed especially for homeschool families with children in kindergarten through second grade. Campers will explore imagination through storytelling, pantomime, movement, improvisation and other dramatic activities. All aspiring actors and actresses will take a bow for friends and family at the end of the week. Camp is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 2 to 6.
Finally, save the date for a summer theatre experience. Theatre fans entering kindergarten through grade 12 can participate in immersive theatre instruction. The first session is June 1 to 5. The second session is June 8 to 12.
