Breakfast with Fred Leadership Institute

PBA News

Business leaders from the Breakfast With Fred Leadership Institute will mentor PBA students during a two-day visit in November.

The Institute is named for Fred Smith Sr., a businessman whose career spanned 65 years of executive positions with various corporations. As president of Fred Smith Associates, he consulted for clients such as GENESCO, Mobil Oil and Caterpillar, among many others. He was known for his wisdom and principle-centered thinking.

The organization is committed to bringing men and women with leadership experience, life experience and messages of hope to Christian colleges and universities “to stretch and bless the next generation of leaders to the glory of God.”

Breakfast With Fred’s Mark Modesti, Pam Minyard, Dr. Skip Trudeau and Scott Shively will visit PBA’s campus for mentoring, networking and group discussions Nov. 1-2. Jennifer Fonseca, the University’s assistant director of career development, is also a Breakfast With Fred mentor.

Breakfast with Fred board member Modesti is co-founder of platformcreator.com, which helps clients create branding for their online presences. Prior to that, he worked for UPS for 32 years, most recently in sales and customer solutions.

Minyard recently retired from her role as director of development for TeenPact Leadership Schools, a Christian non-profit educational ministry, known for its teen-oriented programs on leadership, citizenship and government. The organization’s vision statement is “Changing Lives to Change the World.”

Trudeau is vice president of student development and intercollegiate athletics at Taylor University in Upland, Indiana. He is co-author of “A Parent’s Guide to the Christian College” and “Making a Difference: Empowering the Resident Assistant.” He authored several journal articles.

Shively is retired from the logistics and solutions groups of UPS. He was involved in the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award and the Texas Quality Award, which led him to emphasize quality, continual improvement and fact-based decision-making.
