PBA News

Mona Hicks has been promoted to vice president for human resources & Title IX coordinator, effective June 9.

President Dr. Debra A. Schwinn praised Hicks as a “strong leader internally and externally” whose “innovative and compassionate HR skills” are assets to the University.

She has served the University faithfully since her hire in 1979 as accounts payable and receivable clerk, serving under seven presidents, beginning with Dr. George Borders. During her career, she took on additional responsibilities as the college grew: payroll clerk, accounting supervisor, mail and support services supervisors, personnel and payroll supervisor, director of human resources and associate vice president for human resources.

Prior to coming to PBA, she worked as traffic director/production assistant for a local television station, WEAT-TV 12 (WPEC today). She recalls meeting PBA’s first president, Dr. Jess Moody, when he came to the station to film a public service announcement. The station was owned John D. MacArthur, who with his wife, Catherine T., are benefactors of MacArthur Hall and the Catherine T. MacArthur School.

Hicks is a double alumna of the University, earning both a master’s degree in human resource development and bachelor’s degree in business administration and finance. Several other members of her family are PBA graduates including her late sister, Linda Almy; her sons, Ron Hicks and Mike Carman and grandson, Hunter Hicks.

She is a Wellington resident and a Florida native, having been born to career Air Force parents in Crestview, Florida, at Elgin Air Force Base.
