Biography
Dr. Wesley (Wes) Bollinger graduated with a B.S. in cell and molecular biology from George Fox University. While at George Fox, he was a self-funded undergraduate researcher, obtaining funding from the Richter Scholars program. Upon graduation from George Fox, Wes obtained a Ph.D. from Florida Atlantic University’s (FAU) Integrative Biology and Neuroscience (IBAN) Ph.D. program. His dissertation identified a K+ channel and multiple drugs that modulate synaptic transmission’s tolerance to acute oxidative stress. Upon completion of his doctorate, Dr. Bollinger moved out to Dallas, Texas where he worked at Arog Pharmaceuticals. At Arog, he won Employee of the Month in August 2019 for his ability to efficiently train new employees. After working in the private sector, Wes returned to academia, working as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Florida (UF) Scripps Biomedical Research Institute. Dr. Bollinger’s research during this time focused on identifying drugs that alleviate the pathological effects observed in an animal model of Alzheimer’s disease. In addition to training new employees in the private sector, Wes served as a teaching assistant at the University of Nevada Reno and FAU. Before joining Palm Beach Atlantic University (PBA) as a full-time faculty member, he served for 2 semesters as an adjunct professor of biology. Wes volunteers at his local church as well as for causes including but not limited to homeless ministry, prison ministry, and tree planting.
