Biography

Justin Minnerly is a distinguished educator and researcher deeply passionate about the biological sciences. With a Ph.D. in Integrative Biology from Florida Atlantic University, Justin has distinguished himself in academia, especially in studying aging genetics and molecular biology. His academic foundation was laid with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the same institution, where he excelled, earning a certificate in biotechnology and graduating magna cum laude. 

From 2017 to 2023, Justin enriched the academic fabric of Keiser University as a professor, imparting knowledge in Molecular Biology, Genetics, and General Biology and guiding Undergraduate Research, among other subjects. He is known for his meticulously prepared lectures, exams, and quizzes and his commitment to creating a classroom atmosphere that nurtures critical thinking and inquiry-driven learning. Justin’s pedagogical philosophy centers on experiential learning, encouraging students to design and conduct experiments, deepening their understanding of biological principles, and honing their problem-solving skills. 

Justin’s educational influence extends internationally. In 2019, he served as a guest teacher at the University of Science and Technology Beijing, employing interactive lectures and activities to enhance undergraduate English language proficiency. He also brought his expertise to Keiser University’s Nicaragua campus, teaching General Biology through an engaging mix of lectures and hands-on field trips, exposing students to real-world biodiversity. 

Beyond his teaching endeavors, Justin has contributed significantly to scientific research, authoring publications in esteemed journals on neuroendocrine lifespan regulation in Caenorhabditis elegans and autophagy genes’ roles in development and metabolism. His research presentations at various scientific conferences have further solidified his reputation and expertise in his field. 

Justin’s career is adorned with accolades, such as the Provost Fellowship in 2010, which recognized his exceptional promise as a graduate student. More recently, he received the Undergraduate Research Mentor Award at Keiser University, a testament to his outstanding guidance of students in research projects. This mentorship led to his students achieving top honors at Keiser’s annual Undergraduate Research Symposium, with two students clinching first place and two others securing third and fourth places.
