Travis Miller, an academically excellent student and a dedicated middle school youth leader, has earned the Gregory Outstanding Graduate Award.
Last week, Dr. John M. Gregory, joined by brother Jeff, presented Miller with his award, which comes with a $10,000 scholarship. Given annually, the award recognizes a graduate in the top 10 percent of the class who has demonstrated a continual devotion to faith and the desire to integrate faith in the practice of pharmacy for the glory of God.
During his time in the Lloyd L. Gregory School of Pharmacy, Miller maintained a 4.0 pharmacy GPA and a 3.98 cumulative Doctor of Pharmacy/Master of Business Administration GPA, making the Dean’s List every semester. He is a member of the Rho Chi Honor Society, serving as chapter president this year. Along with two of his classmates, Miller won the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) clinical skills competition and represented GSOP in the national competition.
He also served as the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) liaison and treasurer and Christian Pharmacists Fellowship International (CPFI) charitable works liaison and treasurer. He will present two posters at the ASHP midyear residency showcase.
Miller has become a peer tutor to other students in cardiovascular pharmacotherapy and infectious disease pharmacotherapy. For the past two years, he has participated in Legislative Days at the Florida State Capitol, speaking to lawmakers about legislation to advance pharmacy practice in Florida.
In his capacity with CPFI, he helped organize Operation Christmas Child, packing shoeboxes full of toys and clothes for children in need around the world. CPFI also hosted events throughout the year where students could interact and discuss the difficulties of pharmacy school and life.
In his free time, Miller volunteered with Youth for Christ, serving as a group leader for local middle school students. He taught sixth to eighth graders about the Bible and Christian faith, led small group discussions and coordinated games and activities. As a volunteer with the Gregory School of Pharmacy’s health fair, he shared about spiritual well-being. Miller also spoke in pharmacy chapel.
He attends a Friday morning Bible study and is a member of Family Church West.
Upon graduation, he plans to pursue a residency in a hospital or administration/leadership.
