Biography
Dr. Guirguis completed her undergraduate studies at both the University of South Florida and Palm Beach Atlantic University. Upon completion of her pre-pharmacy studies, she attended Palm Beach Atlantic University for her Doctor of Pharmacy degree. She then completed a pharmacy practice residency at the Miami Veterans Affairs Hospital in Miami, Florida. During her residency, she gained clinical training in both inpatient and outpatient practice settings. After completing residency, she pursued board certification in pharmacotherapy, began practicing as an inpatient clinical pharmacist at a local hospital, and served as an adjunct faculty member at Palm Beach Atlantic University. She joined Palm Beach Atlantic University as a full-time practice faculty member in 2012 and looks forward to continually serving at the university. As an internal medicine faculty member, she practiced at JFK North hospital from 2012-2015, and has now been practicing at Wellington Regional Hospital since 2015. Her teaching responsibilities include coordinating and teaching a special populations pharmacotherapy course and precepting APPE students and PGY1 residents in internal medicine and critical care rotations.
Dr. Guirguis has authored numerous publications on various internal-medicine-related pharmacotherapy topics, off-label use of medications, medication safety, and curriculum and assessment innovations. Her publications are in peer reviewed journals including the American Journal of Health-System Pharmacy (AJHP), Journal of the American Pharmacists Association (JAPhA), Journal of Pharmacy Practice (JPP), and Currents in Pharmacy Teaching and Learning (CPTL). In addition, she has presented over 15 posters and has been an invited speaker at local and national professional meetings.
Dr. Guirguis is involved in several professional organizations, including the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP), the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), the Florida Society of Health-System Pharmacists (FSHP), and the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP). She is passionate about serving and advocating on behalf of the profession.
